System Info missing in XP

I had no end of trouble getting CD-writing to work but eventually found wnaspi32.dll had gone. However, in looking for an answer to the rewrite problem I discovered that my Windows XP Pro System Information is missing the details on my two CDROMs. Accessories-System Tools-System Information-Components-Multimedia-CDROM shows a blank page. No details for the CDRW or CDROM. Anyone any ideas how to get this back?

You might either reinstall ur OS, that is your XP. Or...get a driver?

You could try using sfc (System File Checker).

Open a command prompt and run 'sfc /scannow'

If you want to see all the options do 'sfc'

Quote:
Microsoft(R) Windows XP Windows File Checker Version 5.1
(C) 1999-2000 Microsoft Corp. All rights reserved

Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Mi
crosoft versions.

SFC [/SCANNOW] [/SCANONCE] [/SCANBOOT] [/REVERT] [/PURGECACHE] [/CACHESIZE=x]

/SCANNOW Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE Scans all protected system files once at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT Return scan to default setting.
/PURGECACHE Purges the file cache.
/CACHESIZE=x Sets the file cache size.

On re-install...
Don't really want to do this unless absolutely necessary. The reason is that when I installed XP the silly thing got the hard drive mixed up with my camera flash card reader and ended up making my system drive "F" instead of "C".
Do you know what the system information exe and dll file names are, and where in the Registry I might find the data?

On sfc
I didn't know sfc was available in XP..., I'll try that...
