you should have a cd rom that came with the burner, with the dirvers on it. You might have installed Nero, but not the drivers for the drive.

If you have the cd, load it again and look at the menu. Read the setup instructions, or go to the LG website and look for the correct driver to dl.

What version of Nero are you using? Did it come with a different drive? If so, I think there are some OEM versions that only work with the drive that they came with.

if this is windows xp, do you have "recording enabled" on this drive? select properties on this drive and then the recording tab.

i think the most likely thing is what detritus said, since cd drives are pnp and usually do not come with any drivers

In Device Manager expand the CD ROM tree.

What model is listed?

And as said before, did Nero come with this drive, another, or retail?

If retail see if this CDRW is supported by Nero.

I bought my Samsung CDRW, with Nero 5.5. The program Nero installs with the Samsung driver as well. So I couldn't burrow off my friend's Nero program and use it, if we have a different type of CDRW drive.

What do you want to burn? Audio, movie..etc? There are instructions in choosing what type of burn you want to make and do. Normally, the procedure usually works like drag and drop, and the 'write to cd' (burn). Follow the instructions, and after you are done, click on icon or a button that looks like a 'burn cd'. It will eventually bring you to the burning process. There is a 'next' button below. Just click-click on that if you dont want any changes, and lastly 'burn' the cd..burn!

Seems like the word is not getting out.

People The Nero software that comes bundled with a retail purchase of a CD RW..will only burn using that particular burner..buy a new burner (and it did not come with a new copy of Nero) and you are SOL.

You can do one of two things. 1) get a new registration serial key from Ahead, or 2) buy some different burning software. (There is a third option..but TMO frowns on posting that LOL)

Similar Problem

I Bought an I/O Magic 52x24x52 Burner. I installed the Nero it came with. It did not detect the Burner. I Updated my version of nero from 5.5.10.0 to nero 5.5.10.54 and it read my burner

just goto nero for updates

That was a fluke. Ahead itself has written buyers of OEM burners that using a different burner than what Nero cam with requires a new (registered) serial key. I am one of those.

This have been proven time and time again..where a person has to buy the registered serial key, then the application instantly recognizes and uses the new OEM burner.

Maybe there is something in downloading and upgrading a particular version will allow different or all burners to be recognized, but you are the first I have seen that wrote that it happened...glad it did.
