converting records to CDs

ok im doing this for a friend. im trying to convert an old record to a CD i was gonna get a stereo to mini plug adapter and record it from my turntable to the line in of my sound. what is the best program to record the songs?

You will most likely need a pre-amp between the turntable and the line-in of your sound card. Turntable output is not 'line level'.

I used ROXIO. It has a basic filter for removing pops & clicks. It also allows some editing and cross fading features. Not fancy, but easy to use.

what i was wanting to do was record the individual tracks as mp3s or something then make the CD. easy CD will do that?

easy cd is like nero, but more "user friendly" if you know what i mean

it can burn mp3 to audio, but if youre doing that i would say just use nero

I'm sure that there are other apps like it, but I know that it has a mini-app for recoeding from vinyl or tape.
