Good card?

I am currently building a PC and want to know if this graphics card is the best for my money...

I am running an AMD athlon barton xp 2600 (1.9ghz)

- 512mb Kingston Hyper x

- 80gb Western Dig. hd

- NEC 17in flat CRT

I am going to order a Leadtek Geforce FX 5700 with 425mhz core and 550mhz effective for $150. Anyone have any experience with this card?? Any help would be appreciated. THX.

Good card, but I would think the Sapphire 9600 Pro is a better deal.

Well, if your a die hard nVidia fan, go for it. Otherwise, the 9600 seems to offer better performance.

It looks to me from Tom's tests that the FX 5700 and the Radeon 9600 offer nearly identical performance. Either one would be a good choice depending on brand preference and price.

I would suggest the 9600XT since you get hl2 for free. just make sure you get one that has it with it (like ati's).

if you can spring for the 5700ultra... thats even better. i take the 5700 over the 9600 any day. and i am not an nvidia fanboy - i have the 9800pro.
