Kids low memory warnings..

Hey Gang,
Got a memory problem...I keep getting these warnings, not app specific, about being low on memory. I find this hard to believe as I've got over 1 GB installed(see below). The system sees it apparently, seems to happen more so in Windows Media Player (9)...but can happen anytime, with any app. I've gone into msconfig and only run systray & taskmon , it still happens!
Got the latest mobo bios. Any clues as to where I might look to resolve this?

MOBO: Asus P4PE
Proc: P4 2.4 GHZ
Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.2222 A
Clean install using Full CD /T:C:\WININST0.400 /SrcDir=F:\WIN98 /IZ /IS /IQ /IT /II /NR /II /C /U:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IE 5 6.0.2800.1106
Uptime: 0:00:21:12
Normal mode
GenuineIntel x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9
1022MB RAM
88% system resources free
Windows-managed swap file on drive C (74508MB free)
Available space on drive C: 74508MB of 76297MB (FAT32)
Available space on drive D: 136324MB of 190733MB (FAT32)

I doubt I have the answer to your question.
Is the memory new, is it all on one stick?
Is the memory over heating?
I once had a similar problem installing 512mb of ram with win98 but worked fine with 256mb of ram.
I was once told that win98 does not handle large amounts of ram as it was designed when 128mb of ram was considered alot.
I do not know if this is really true. I hope somebody else will have a better answer than mine.
Good Luck.....

Try 512 mb of ram. win98 can't use any more that that anyway, and can cause problems on some boards. I had BX boards that were supposed to take 768, but with win98 they only worked with 512.

look at these things
1. virtual memory size
2. can your ram pass memtest86
3. number of processes open
4. antivirus and adaware, have you run them recently too see
you dont have a virus or ad-ware prob?

Follow the link GroundZero3 provided. I think that will likely fix the problem. Usually error messages like you're getting refer to low system resources, but in your case this doesn't seem to be the problem.
