oem windows xp

I'm building a system and I see $55 XP Home license at Computers 2 Go and similar deals elsewhere. No media, just the COA sticker. I already have a oem CD. Any pitfalls here? Anybody have experience buying this? btw, this is my first post here. The reseller ratings is a good service and the forums have lots of useful stuff.

Welcome to the forum!

The only real pitfall I can think of offhand, is if you go to sell the system you wont have a cd to give them, and they'd need it in case of something like needing the recovery console or needing to do a "repair" install etc.

it semes like it is completley legal but correct me if i'm wrong but you could burn copies for each lisence but the new buyer may not like a burned copy

The ads talk about "pulls" from new systems. I assume this is pulling the coa sticker off a case and selling the sticker. How do they do that with out destroying the sticker? To me that would be legal. For example, if I want to upgrade my case I should be able to without purchasing a new os. However, I doubt I could get the sticker off in one piece.

You can't transfer the license to another computer. But the computer could be "upgraded!"

Provided you uninstall the OS from computer 1, you can too transfer the OS & license to computer 2. During activation, you may need to contact the M$ and explain what you are doing, but there should be no hassle. I've done this a few times.
