Win98 blue screen error.

Ok, it's time for another blue screen of death question.
Upon booting up I get the following blue screen.

A fatal exception 0E error has occured at 0028:FF39A3A5 in VXD hap16v2k(01) + 0000B3C5 . The current application will be terminated.

This problems more of a nuisence than a major problem. Win98 is a backup OS on my 2nd HDD but it'd still be nice to have my backup working . My primary XP OS is working fine.
Any suggestions on where to start with this one would be much appreciated. Thanks

BSODs are so informative

Can you give some system specs? I'm mainly interested in how much RAM you have, but mobo/processor, HDD type, and other stuff can help too.

Oh, and does anything in 98 not work? Besides the BSOD?

Any chance you can boot into safe mode? The only thing I can link the file with "hap16v2k" is the sound driver, and that's for a SB card.
And BSOD can be informative, whatever was running, obviously windows here, came into an exception for which there was no programmed response, so it terminated. The problem came from the file "hap16v2k" at said address, not sure if that is an absolute address or an offset, but it appears to be having problems with the hap16v2k file

It might be worth a shot to just strip out the sound drivers, and reinstall them via safe mode, assuming you can boot into safe mode. Try taking out the sound card and booting and see if that makes a difference. Assuming this is the correct file

Yep, you hit the nail on the head krohnjw . It was an issue with SB Audigy 2 drivers. I started up in safemode, removed them and then re-installed. Everything seems to be back to normal now. Thanks a lot for the help guys........Merry Xmas
