Win XP pro not recognizing Pioneer DVD-R\RW A106D Burner
Situation: CPU AMD2700, Motherboard Asus A7N8X deluxe, OS Windows XP pro Service Pack 1.
Lite-On DVD-ROM\CD-RW LTC-48161H Combo Drive
Pioneer DVD-R\RW 106D DVD-RW
1 GB DDR Memory on 2 512Mb Sticks
RAID 0 configured Twin 80 GB Seagate 7200 rpm HDD on PCI RAID card
For some reason my OS is not recognizing my DVD burner. Cannot see drive in the "My Computer" window of WinXP pro.
No auto-start on Pioneer though it is working within burning programs i.e selectable as a burning drive in Nero Express and Easy CD creator 6.
Have done following fault finding.
Checked BIOS = Both CD\DVD drive found on IDE 1 and 2. Both Master configured.
Checked POST screen = Both Drives ID'd properly on correct IDE channels and as master.
Checked IDE cables. IDE pin 01 is matched to that on Motherboard IDE pin 01. Each drive is on own IDE cable and set as master, all secured correctly in IDE plugs
Check Windows XP device manager = Both CD and DVD drive found in device manager under DVD\CD ROM drive tree.
Swapped CD\DVD drive IDE connection = Lite-on drive now D: drive rather that E: and Pioneer drive still unseen.
Tried to Flash Update pioneer DVD drive = not successful due to not being seen by Windows, thus update program cannot find drive.
Any help or advice will be greatly apprieciated.
Kind Regards from Ozzie Land
