Do I need a 256Mb Vid card?

Hi,

I`m thinking of some upgrades for my box and was looking at changing my old Geforce 2 Ti card with an Ati 9600 XT, now do I go with the 128Mb version or pay the extra 20 or so quid and get the 256Mb version. Games I play, GTA 3 and vice, Medal of Honour etc, and of course Half Life 2 when it comes out.

I will want to keep this card for two years if I can.

I doubt it ... you'd be better off aiming for higher mem/core speed.

I'd go for a 256mb card. It was only a few months ago people were saying to get 64 meg cards as 128 was to much, now no one would get a 64mb card.

If the mem/core specs are the same and you can afford it, then get the 256MB version, just in case!
Be careful tho' sometimes 256MB versions of cards have slower memory speeds ...
Elad.

For $20 extra, if you can afford it then go with the 256 MB version. As far as gaming will see almost no difference between the 128 or 256 MB version.

Ok I might go with the 256 card but only I check out the mem speed. I think the clocks are the same.

Is the 9600 series a DirectX9 card?

btw a quid is a pound.
