Those two gray lines going horizontally across your monitor are supposed to be there...they are in every Sony made CRT. They are for stablization.

As far as the blue color, that could be a problem with one of the guns.

could also be a bad monitor cable with a broken wire. I would have to time to go monitor shopping

Possibilities.

Do you have video card or onboard video? If video card make sure the card is seated properly and also make sure the cable is on good. I moved a comp one time and when I booted it was sorta green...it was just the video card had shifted some due to the pulling of the monitor cord on it.

Yeah the two lines are normal..they are "trinitron" lines, lol.

have you degaussed the monitor? Should be a degauss thingy on it on the onscreen controls...the symbol is like an old timey magnet.

These thin horizontal wires are there in EVERY Trinitron tube. They're there to stabilize the many vertical wires that make up the red/green/blue separation mask.

Slap it lightly on its right or left side to see what they're for.

The blueish color probably is from red or green signal going amiss occasionally. Check cables and connections. This however is also quite common a defect in aging monitors.

you lost me..have Radeon 9600 Pro 128 X8, just moved entire tower and redid all cables , pulled out video card, cleaned with some "Blow Off" and put back together...so far so good...don't know what "degaussed" means...sry...?

thats just a normal "degauss"...like a "demagnatizer"..they also have a tool that TV repair places use...called a "degauuser wheel" or something like that....looks like a steering wheel..they hold it in front of the screen and walk backwards away from it...have seen that get rid of blue patches that the normal built in degauss couldnt fix.

(but its known to cause sterilty in pets and household plants)
