Formatting c: drive

Why do i get "bad command or file" from dos prompt? used a boot disk created in XP.

cuz the comand aint no good, lol.

What command exactly?

Could be a certain version of DOS or might not be actual "dos" at all.

xp does not contain dos

you must use a boot disk with dos on it to be able to use that command.
although you can format a floppy, but not allowed to format c:

Hmm... isn't the command supposed to be: format c:\ (with the back slash)?

I think the question here is exactly what sort of boot disks XP makes....does it make boot disks that support DOS commands?

I dont know I never tried em.

I don't know about xp boot disks but I can tell you win2000 boot disks do not boot to dos.
