Request of those with Phoenix BIOS...

I have a problem with the onboard video on a mobo and I threw in a spare vid card I had laying around. Only thing is, I can't see anything, so I don't know how to change the setting in the bios to use the card I chucked in the AGP slot. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the sequence of keys I need to press to get in the BIOS menu and change the display adapter setting? Anyone want to help make my first post fruitful?

Good suggestion, but I don't know which version it is. It's not my computer, it's one at my work.

welcome to the forum!

lemme get this straight...the onboard video died so you put in an agp card and it still doesnt give kick on the monitor?

first the silly basics....make sure when you put the agp card in you do indeed move the monitor cable to the agp....I have missed that a few times, lol.

Make sure the agp card is seated properly.

other than that all I can think of is just trying to clear or "reset" the bios...there should be a reset jumper near the cmos battery.

JP

ps..usually its the "del" key or elsewise the "F2" key to get into the bios..those are by far the most popular....but its a moot point if the video aint kickin on the monitor.

In the past, when I have installed a supplemental video card to the onboard video, I have needed to make a change in the BIOS menu to use the adapter I have added. Now I need to know how to do that blind.

I sort of see what you are saying....you need an identical setup, lol...to do em side by side to know the exact buttons to push.

The only issue is that not all pheonix bioses are going to be the same..would have to be the same motherboard exactly I think

Well I suppose it may have to be the same motherboard, but I think it would be worth a shot if anyone could supply me with the info. Also, I don't even know what type of motherboard it is, no markings anywhere really and like I said it's not my computer. The system is an AMD duron 1200 or something like that and the mobo's got a VIA chipset (like that helps...)

one possibility..try a pci card..or possibly look for motherboard jumper.
