Overclocking Asus Mobo

I have a P4 2.4C (Canterwood not Celeron) processor, 512mb PC3200 DDR400 Low latency Corsair XMS Dual Channel memory and a P4P800 Deluxe Asus mobo. On one site they were able to overclock to 3.6ghz with a 1.2ghz FSB. Im in awe of how they can do this as I can only get my CPU frequency up to 255 and not 300 like they did...I don't know if I may need to flash the bios for this to work but I must be doing something wrong...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Oc'ing not a science its more of an art. Just because someone else has what you might think of as the same set-up you ahve doesn't mean much. All components oc differently no 2 chips or mobo's are exactly alike when it comes to oc'ing. They might ahve better cooling or just about anything. Also just because they hit that figure doesn't mean thats what they run the cpu/mobo at that could just be the top number they got it to run at.

there are a million different factors to look at when comparing someone elses rig to yours

well each cpu is different but if you are at the place where you change the fsb frequency and you are just changing it around not saving it then mabey you need a bios update or mabey they were using a bios they that was not made/supported by the manufacturer
