At Home attaching front usb and sound to ecs k7vta3 ver.5 to an antec sonata

how in the world do i connect the front usb and audio to my mobo, this is complicated.

yes it is. You need a free USB header on your mother board, but even if you do the pluggs that come with cases are not standard and you may have to move the pins around.

The sound also need an internal connection, or has to be run out the back of the case and plugged into the sound card.

Either find the pin-out diagram in the book or look at the ECS site.
Make sure you hook them up properly, if done wrong you can burn the USB controller out (hearsay)

it is onboard sound so maybe the leads are in the front of the mobo?, i have a usb 5 and 6 thingie on my mobo, would the sound be next to that or in a different place, and do the antecs usb ports support usb 2.0 or doesn't it matter?

The manual for your mobo should show the location of the pin-outs for the mic and headphones.
As far as the USB there was an issue awhile back with Antec sticking USB 1 front extension ports in there cases but that was a year or so back.
