Wireless Adaptor help!!

Hi all...

Just wondering if some kind person would be able to help me out..

I run on xp pro and have just set up a wireless network at home so that my daughter can use her laptop in her bedroom.

All set up and fine for several days and then........

I have since had many problems with the wireless adaptor.....the signal strength is constantly excellent but the problem is with the speed of the adaptor. It was running at 11mbps and everything was fine....now it spends most of the time at 1 mbps.At that speed i cannot access the internet etc....If i disable and the enable it starts off at 11mbps but within around a minute it is back to 1 mbps.It does not seem to be time of day specific.

Please can someone offer some advice...

-I have re-installed drivers.
-I have disabled firewall(apparantly can call probs)
-I have spent approx 3 hours on the phone with Actiontec
-Is the speed of my cable connection important ie if i upped to 600 from my current 128 package, would that make a difference?
-could the adaptor be faulty?

Any thoughts/ideas much appreciated

Eh, why can't she access the internet with 1mbps? That connection is still alot faster than your real internet connection.

You will never truely hit 11 mbps. With so much interference in the wireless world 1 mbps might be the most you get. (the reason why they say 11mbps is in theroy)

How far is she from the router?

Do you have a cordless 2.4 ghz phone?

Do you have WEP on?

Try changing the channels on the wireless to see if that helps some. Either way when it says your connect at 11 mbps, you really are not
