ASUS a7n8x

i got a question thats been bothering me for a while
i have a linksys router... and a comp with the asus MB
on the router i see the first row of lights turned on because my comp is on.. which indicates that my comp is online...
but when i turn the comp off... the lights are still on.. this shouldnt be and its bothering me...
when i connect another comp to the router the lights turn off when the comp is off and they turn on when the comp is on...
my bro said it has something to do with a asus a7n8x feature...
that allows me to turn the comp on remotely... i dont need that...
does any1 know how to turn it off...?

There's either a jumper, or a setting in the BIOS to disable wake-on LAN. I don't want to reboot to find out. :P It should be in your manuals, but that's what the feature is called, wake-on LAN.

In your BIOS the setting is in the Advanced menu / Power Management Setup. Select "Power Up on PCI Device" and set it to Disabled.

My Abit NF7-S does the same thing. I guess it still supplies the standby voltage to the lan even if the option is turned off in the BIOS. Not to worry though, nothing is being accessed nor sent while shut down.

Yep your right. My Asus A7N8X deluxe does this with my Netgear 10/100 5 port switch! Its always lit-more so even the light on the mobo in back stays on aswell. Fact is-the lan stays powered wether you set to wake on lan in BIOS or not. Dont worry-nothing can get in, or out as the cases maybe hehe.
