Food HOW DO I RAISE THE FSB?!?!?!?!?!

i know this sounds retarded seein as how i have replaced about everything in my comp.....but here it goes....i got a emachines t3100 P3 1ghz.... i only recently found the button to get into BIOS (the DEL key) and i thought that i might up the speed a little bit........i am TOTALY illiterate with overclocking.... so I wanna raise the FSB. how do I raise it? how much should i raise it? what is the downside? is there anything i should watch (like the temp) after it is said and done? .....feedback is very much appriciated!

THANK YOU!!!!

You have to say a special chant w/ some sort of goofy hat on your head.

Actually, you probably can't w/ an eMachines. If you could, there would be a setting under 'Advanced Chipset' or something of that nature that would allow you to change the FSB. Upping the FSB would cause it to run hotter, that's why you have to up the voltage sometimes as well.
OC'ing is an artform nowadays, there's a couple dudes around this forum that wrote a book about OC'ing, maybe they'll enlighten you as well.

there might not be a way TO raise it in that machine..cuz lots of the 'OEM" machines like Dells etc dont gove any options for that.

Normally it would be in "cpu setup" or something like that..but if it doesnt give you any options your outta luck.

Like on Dell Dimension 2400s etc..no options whatsoever.

I doubt it w/ an eMachines mobo. I've never owned one so don't know first hand, but I seriously doubt it.

Here's the boot btw.

You might try a nice software overclocking tool like softFSB. Your exact motherboard might not be listed in there, but the clockgens and pll's might.

If you're running something newer than Windows9x, I think you'll need to find another, equivalent program as softFSB is no longer supported. However, that's the one I'm familiar with. I dunno, it might work with 2000/XP, it does work with NT anyway.
