Sam and Max Hit the Road
Lol, I found my REALLY old CD of this game, and memories came flooding back.
Now I have a 3200+ and windows XP and I have no clue how to get it running. Luckily, I just double-clicked the samnmax.exe and the game RAN! Holy cow!
The sad thing is, there is no sound. I can't get to that old blue screen they used to have where you would configure your card.
Anyone know if this is possible?

look for another .exe file in old dos games there is usually a start one then a configer then start one
i dont know much about this game but it could be that it only uses the pc speaker and you either dont have it installed or the sound card/onboard sound driver disables this(when i format i get sound through the pc speaker untill i install the drivers)
but this reminds me of another old game jones in the fast lane

I know that sound comes out of the normal speakers. I remember my first set
In the game you can enter the menu and the volume controls all say disabled. I haven't told the game waht sound card im using. I just don't know how to do this.

I don't know how well Sam and Max works with DOSBox, but for those old LucasArts adventures there's ScummVM.

I tried to use ScummVM, and (I'm guessing) because scumm uses its own game engine, a lot of the things are messed up. All the "boxes" are in purple and black instead of grey and white. Plus the f1 key (for saving, loading, and anything else) doesn't work at all. Had to quit by way of ctrl+alt+del. All this, and I set the program specifically for Sam and MAx.
Maybe the program is great for other games, or I just didn't have it configured right, but right now DosBOX is working fine.
Thx

I've run it in ScummVM with no problems. Check you put the files in the right place and set the program up properly.
