Setting up LAN on cable modem

I just hooked up two computers through a router but i cant see either computer from the other (if that makes sense). When i go to the settings for the router it shows both as being hooked up. Any ideas? One is running XP home, one XP pro.

How are you trying to "see" them? In "My network places"?

Maybe you need to share some files by right clicking etc.

make sure you have a few files shared on both computers. Then see if they both show up in each others network places.

You can go to the command prompt and type in "net view" without the quotes, that should show the computers in the workgroup so you should be able to see both comps from each comp.

If you still cant maybe you could do a "ipconfig /all" and post that up.....

Are both comps getting the internet?
