mrweatherbee66 is on a distinguished road
need to erase hd, full of too much crap

i'm getting to the point where i've got way too much crap on my computer and i want to just start over. i want to get everything off my hd and get windows xp back to how it was when it was when the computer was new and there wasn't anything on it. how might i do this?

Well, assuming there's data you want to backup, you should do that first. Burn it to a CD, or whatever you need to do. Then, assuming you have a full version of XP, just stick the disc in the computer and reboot it. It will come up to the setup screen and when you choose "Install New" it will format the hard drive for you. It's all pretty easy to follow. Heck, even I can do it!

Is it a branded PC? If so, just use the restore disk.

If not, just do an install of XP. It should ask you if you want to refresh your current installation or ESC to install new, choose ESC. (I can't remember verbatim the actual question)
At some point it will ask you to format, do that and you will be GTG.
