Kids X-Box or PS-2 for 7yr old ?

g/f wants one or the other for son this Christmas, any offers or experience on which is better for small child ?

This will have limited adult usage, prefer cheapest way out including future game purchase.

Thanks
Doc

yeah a GameCube is going to have much more child friendly games than PS2 or Xbox. it's much cheaper too and there's a Zelda bundle deal that he might like...

I definitely second the Cube. But if it has to be between the Box and the Station, I say go for the PS2.

I would say game cube as #1, as the games are more child oriented and are less gory and violent.

If that is not an option then I would go with the PS2 as the controllers are a bit smaller and a bit better designed if you ask me. It seems he would have trouble getting all the buttons on the larger xbox controllers.

GameCube. Much cheaper and has great kids games. A Gameboy Advanced would be good too if he doesn't have one.

Now that the GameCube copy protection is cracked I bet hardware sales starts to take off again.

New information:

Child has been playing X-box for about a year, also has many hours behind playstation 2
Is the GameCube going backwards for him considering these developments ?

FYI, Walmart seems to have best price on PS2 or Xbox, any other ideas for places to purchase.

Also, what are the GC's quality of graphics ?

Thanks
Doc

Of the 2 I'd go with PS2.

IMO,

Bill

get him a ps2, and raise him to be an rpg fanatic

of the 3 consoles, the GC is the worst but its how you look at it ~ few quality titles, graphics are ok, but not quite as good as the other in my opinion, plus it doesnt play dvd

pros - nintendo knows its not popular, and they are practically giving them away, plus metroid prime is cool ~ i think the zelda bundle comes with older games, if so, that would be cool, the wind waker is a mockery though

They're actually slightly better than the PS2, though hardly noticably so. Hardware-wise, the GC is in fact slightly superior to the PS2 in every category (except disc size).
