You should have pretty good performance with your system. Don't expect 1600x1200 max detail but I'm sure at 1024x768 your system should have no problem running max details I think.

Me I'll stick to my 733MHz xbox and smooth Halo hehe. I think it's actually kinda fun with a controller and not a KB+mouse. Or maybe that's just because I first played Halo on the xbox and don't want to taint the game experience.

Anyways good luck and happy gaming!

I've got mixed feelings about HALO... At times its the most boring multiplayer game i've ever played, and other times it can be pretty fun... It definalty DOES have performance issues... I've got a 2500+@3200+ with a 9800 Pro and it doens't run how it should... Its playable of course, but bearly averaging 30 fps on some maps at 1280x1024 is just not right. The graphics arent' even that great to justify the performance... Rumor has it there will be a patch out to address these issues, but I've got serious doubts about that, as the latest patch released didn't even fix everything that gearbox said it was suppose to fix.

Everything's relative. I run Halo at 1024x768 with all details enabled except HW audio+EAX (even with the v1.03 patch, it's still buggy). Performance with my top 3 boxes is more than exceptable, but compared to literally all my other games, Halo runs like a pig. I can understand if the graphics were on par with the Doom3 alpha, but this is not the case. I just think it's bad port despite what Bungie says.

FYI, I've also found that the game is like 80% video card dependent. Regardless of how powerful your CPU is, unless you've got a card in the 9500Pro class or higher, you're not going to get the same type of fps you're used to with other games.

i cant even get the demo to run (for any long period) on my system. it seems to be a sound issue but i updated my nforce drivers and it didn't help, and i couldn't find anything about this on microsofts site.

actually it will run with -nosound added to the shortcut but it's kinda hard to play without sound (cant hear what to do next...)

Good news. My new mem left me hit 3200+ on stock vcore. Im very happy. Hehe. Memtest86 and burn in passed! So I guess I can expect-playable speeds? What about the server part? I have a spare 2200+ 256mb ddr266 rig here. This game have a standalone server port? Or will serving it not add too much more load since its mainly Video card dependent? THanks for the reply's everyone. I'm trying to find out if this is my next Lan gaming purchase or not. If I like it-and then my buddies see it. They will get it too. So Im kinda the guinnie pig-LOL. Just dont wanna waiste $40 smackers.
