can't open pages in ie

well isn't this fun. i had a bucnh of spyware on my pc and got rid of it using spybot, but now i can't use ie to actually get to any sites. when i type something in, it adds an extra /%20 to the url after the http:// part and i get a dns error. doesn't matter what the site. i have had this happen to me before and i know it can be fixed in the registry, but i don't remember where. ie doen't work at all, which means that all the software i have that use ie to get info off the net don't work either.

i just realized i can't even open stuff on localhost as i just tried to access popfile with ie and it won't work either. internet's not down, because i'm typing this on firebird, but this is annoying.

ie6sp1 on xpsp1.

thanks kids.

%20 is space, meaning empty character. Somethings messed up if it wants to add spaces everywhere

try mozilla or opera and see if that fixes it. as long as you can Windows Update in IE you should be able to to survive using other browsers.

The real question is did you have as much spyware as my sister??
Anyway, did you try searching the registry for "%20" or "/%20" ? Wondering if that value got stored somewhere ...
