What exactly does NT stand for? I know Win2000 & xp use this system. How does it differ from 98xx & ME?

New Technology is correct.

I look at it this way . . .

Home use
- 9X
- Me
- XP Home

Business use
- NT
- 2K
- XP Pro

accually there are 3 systems one is for NT(not sure what it stands for) but it runs only in protected mode the other for 9x (ME falls under the 9x category too) which swiches between real and protected mode...not sure about the 200/XP category it is similar to NT i think but there are slight differences

btw DOS is completley real mode and i'm not sure about 3.x

I'm surprised you included Win Me, though I must admit it does have a lot of needed drivers.
