Flat Panel only turns on for a second

I have a Princeton 17" flat panel monitor and when i turn it on, it will turn on for about a second then turn off. If I turn it off then back on, it will do the same thing.

The only thing I can think of is the VGA cord I bought for it didnt come with one of the metal prongs. See picture for reference.
(circled in red) could that be it?

It goes into the power save mode, and I dont have the computer hooked up to speakers so I don't know if it's making any sound. And yes, it works with my other flat panel monitor.

then it sounds like a bad monitor either the connector/powersupply/something is bad...i wouldnt know how to fix this or advise anyone to do so even thou i dont think lcds are as dangerous as crts but if it is still underwarranty send it back to the plant for repair/replacement

yeah, it's just weird how it turns on for a second though. you would think if it was one of those things that it wouldn't turn on at all.

well if its the power supply i can see how it would peak for a second then become insufficent...there might be an eplanation for other things but i cant think of them off the top of my head

Does it have an internal p/s or a brick type powersupply?

Maybe if its a brick you can easily multimeter measure the output---possibly eliminating it as a prob...
