safe to remove registry data?

downloaded seventhknight security software trial version. trial expired and 7th knight advertisement fills my screen each time i boot up. uninstalled software and tried to remove with processviewer file remover without success. went into registry and searched for seventhknight and found this - name(ab) 246 || type REG_SZ || data workstation-seventhknight.com-security.exe -. is it safe to remove this information? my OS is win2000pro.

I think there is a method to "rem" out the entry just like we used to do on dos stuff. You could rem it out and see if it messes up anything..then delete it.

But probably it would be ok to just delete it.

You could always back up the registry first to be safe.

appreciate those links. deleted files from registry but full page Seventh Knight ad still comes up when i boot. is there some place in windows where you can state what comes on at boot and what doesn't?
