newbie help please... heat sink troubles

Hi everyone, it would be great for some help here, I'm having a problem with my heat sink fan. The processor is a 1.1 ghz celeron that I am trying to get up and running again, except the tab that clips the heat sink onto the mother board is broken. There is only two tabs. Can this be fixed? Or do I have to go out and purchase a new heat sink fan.

Thanks.

metal clip is broke off the heat sink or the plastic tab is broken off the motherboard?

If the clip is broken off the heatsink you probably have to just buy another one.

If the plastic tab is broken off the motherboard you probably have to buy a heatsink with the 3 tabs on it.

Well my heat sink is fairly ancient - it only has plastic tabs so i can't solder it back together. What do you think?

If it's your heat sink, they are fairly cheap. I'd just replace it..
