Video capture problems with Winfast TV2000 XP Card

Hi

I'm having problems capturing video using my Winfast TV2000 XP card. I use the standard Winfast PVR software downloaded from Leadtek's site with the latest drivers installed.

The problem is when I capture using the composite input (not TV tuner), the video is jerky or not smooth. I use the highest quality settings MPEG-2 optimal. I've tried dropping the quality down to MPEG-1 normal and it still is a little jerky but a bit better. I think my system should handle MPEG-2 optimal settings ok. My system is as follows:

P4 3.2Ghz
1GB DDR
160GB SATA 7200RPM HDD
Windows XP Pro

I have tried disabling Anti-virus software but this has not improved, video is still 'jerky'. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks

You have more than enough power to convert to MPeg2 on the fly. What kind of Audio card do you have? I know with the ATI cards droped frames occure when certian settings arnt used. Maybe the same applies here? Be sure to check all drivers for updates and be sure to read the FAQ of the card's booklet and website. Normally droped frames are caused to keep the audio in sync or something like that.

I'm just using my onboard soundcard - its a soundmax 6 channel soundcard. I have an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard.

that very well could have something to do with it. Onboard sound will use the CPU to do all its work and your CPU is already busy working on the video. Might want to look into it further and see if you have a budy with a sound card you could borrow for testing. If you can pop it in and set it up and see how it does.
