WD 160GB slows down computer

I have 3 Western Digital Hard Drives.

2 x 80GB 7200 8MB cache, 1 as IDE 0 Master and the other Slave
1 x 160GB 7200 8MB cache, as IDE 1 Secondary Master.

Since I added the 160GB HDD recently, I noticed a sudden increase in bootup time.

Am i doing anything wrong? what are my options? I thought my CDRW, which is on the secondary IDE channel was causing the slow down but I unplugged it and there was no difference.

well maybe it just takes longer to "enumerate" a hd than it does a cd?

Is it an ata133 motherboard or did you have to use the pci card thing?

I dont have a PCI controller card, I don't know what they are for =(
I just have the regular setup of IDE cables from board to drive.
I have an *old* Abit KT7 board...is that ata133?

the Abit KT7 only supports UDMA/66 (66/33).

What O/S are you running? Something to consider: some windows systems need a "patch" to run a hard drive over 137g at top performance. I have a 160g diamondmax-9, and after hooking it up, one of my four O/S's (windows millenium) would only run the drive in ms-dos compatibility mode (was taking about 25 minutes to boot). Check with the manufacturer to see if there are any "patches", diagnostic tools, or reported problems for your 160g drive...
