I have a friend who wanted me to give him a copy of call of duty I told him no(Told him something else but no will do it here), now we were in a little bit of an argument. Since I will not give him a copy of call of duty he says he will try someone else. Now he says that using a cd key generator will make it like he has a legal copy 100% usage like owning the real thing. for the cd a copy using something like alcohol 120% (why he asked me in the first place). now modderators if I cant have this post then delete it but I am just trying to see what others say to end an argument.
I say yes but will limitations.

No its a illegal copy. Definition of a legal copy is you own orginal and STILL have original copy in your possesion, even if its cracked-scratched or smashed you must keep to prove you owned it. Since he never owned it-its a pirated copy. Regradless of the Keygen. And keygen's ARE illegal regradless. You are entitled in most areas to a copy-but never to reproduce keys to circumvent the protection. No cd cracks are O.K. cause they cant make you insert the cd-to run somthing you already own. Its a pain-wears out cdrom for no reason and more cd is exposed to elements the more it scratches etc. needlessly. Nothing for him to argue with you about. Its illegal what he's doing and if he insists on it. Tell him to keep it to his self and leave ya be. Thats just how it is.

aside from legal definitions (in which it is most definitely is not) and also for returns and such, it still won't be like owning the real thing i would imagine. I haven't messed with BF1942, but every game i've had since half life requires a real cd key to play online (i.e. pirated keys, even from a keygen won't allow you to play online, wonid being the perfect example). i would imagine bf1942 is the same way

Pretty much if u use a keygen then u won't be able to play online. You will be able to play single player and thats about all. I owned starcraft but lost the cd-key and I just typed in some numbers and voilá. By the way is that illegal if u like just randomly type in cd-keys cuz u lost yours...actually Idon't think that would be illegal cuz u own the orignal.

Some games work online with a key-gen. I know for a fact. After I moved a few months ago I lost the cd case for medal of honor. So I hopped online and found what I could find in the way of cd-keys. Long storty short. Found one and it works fine for both single player and multiplayer (gamespy online).

As far as that being illegal... well I own the cd so what is EA going to say to me? As long as you payed for the game (or at least shoplifted a legit copy) the software company isn't going to prosecute you.

Just ask around, tons of people are playing illegal versions of games online. No matter what type of security devices software companies produce, some people will find their way around it.

Usually a legal copy is the original cd combined with the right CD-key, isn't it? Because you're buying a license to use the game.

Some games work in LAN with a keygen and not on the internet. Others work on both and some on only singleplayer.

Prolly need to crack it before it works off a copied cd. Id post a nice place to look but the mods... you know.

No crack is needed for 1-1 copies of Safedisc 2. None. Just a raw mode cdrw. LOL-If I shouldnt have said that-delete it mods.
