Is this compaq laptop a good choice?

Just bought a Compaq laptop for school. Need it mainly for Word, Excel, and internet.

To be specific it's a DM745A#aba and contains:
Celeron 2.4
256
40
15"

I will add WIFI card.

Is compaq a good name? Picked up this pc new for $650.

Would Dell or Toshiba be a better choice even though I would have to pay more for the same system?

TIA,
Jim

dell would definately be a better choice but compaq isnt that bad and if you're tight on cash i would choose it over an hp(even though they merged the computers have remained different)/emachine any day

Wouldn't be my first choice but on a budget it is a good machine. Should do just fine for what you need it for.

You will definitely get a better deal with Dell for that config. Deals for laptops of similar config are always around in the deals section.
