OC'd P4 or Athlon 64 - I'm so confused !?!?

For the longest time I was contemplating an OC'd P4 2.4 @ 3gig+ on a ABIT AI-7 motherboard for my new "gaming rig".

Now I'm ready to pull the trigger..............but......... It seems the Athlon64 3000 is a much better choice.

Please give me a few reasons to switch ......... and recommend a good motherboard for the Athlon.

A good reason: overclocking doesnt work the same on every chip. Some might only go to 2.8ghz or less. Whereas the Athlon at stock is gonna rock.

Another good reason: you won't have to upgrade once the majority of software on the market becomes 64-bit.
