Hi Guys! Need Help Getting My Network Working!

Hello everyone,

I recently just set up my 2 computers in my apartment to share internet access. Both computers are using XP with SP1, and both have the latest updates and patches.

However, how do I make it so that I can browse the entire computer from the other? From what we'll call 'Computer1', I can only access 'Computer2's shared files (music, pictures, etc...), but I can't access the entire computers contents.

Now, if I goto 'Computer2', and try to look at the contents of 'Computer1', I need a password! But I didn't set one, I was asked to make a pw when I installed my D-Link hub, but I set it blank so I wouldn't need one.

Anyways, in a nutshell, how do I make it so I can explore both computers within Windows Explorer.

Thank you for your future help.

Go to: \\computername\c$
If you login as an administrator that should show the entire C:\ drive of that computer.

on each computer go to the c drive (or any other drives you want to share) right click and choose sharing and security...you should be able to figure it out from there

Ok, I've done that, but before it lets me access that computer, it wants a password.

I am logged in as ADMIN, and I don't remember setting any password for the computer.

How can I check and possibly change/set a password?

Thanks.

First thing to do is to make sure that all the drives and the my documents/sharde docs folders on both computers are shared. They should have the hands under them for the icons. Second thing to do is to have both computers are set to the same workgroup.

Are you using a hub, switch or router?
