need help w/hz questions

I'm not really up on my monitor tech and have a question about hz. My 19" monitor is rated to 1600x1200 @ 75hz. If I reduce this resolution, I can increase the hz, correct? If so, is 800x600 @ 100hz practical?

800X600@75-85Hz is normal.

Not necessarily. You have to consult the monitor documentation to see what resolutions/frequencies are supported. If you post the exact model, someone might be able to find out for you.

I'd love to see what a 19" monitor would look like at 800x600!! Definitely for the "visually impaired".

lol. I use 19"@800.600. Not into squinting all day.

but in general if you decrease the resolution you can increase the refresh rate or vice versa

So, think I'll fry it at 1024x768 @ 100hz? What's the most you think you'd take it up to?

i dont think you'd "fry" it....it just might not go that high. It might be distorted or just not fill out the width or heigth of the screen.
I think if it "fried" it would be more of a shorter lifespan thing...either that or as I said it may simply refuse to go that high.

You can look up the specs etc..whats the model/make etc?

Bought it at Sams Club, it's a 19". Sounds lame, but it's been an excellent monitor much better actually than my p95f+.

http://www.neo-wave.com/orion_mon_19flat.htm

that has a few specs but doesnt directly speak about refresh rate, but lists max hz and vrt rates

AAhhh, that's why I'm buying New Eyes .

Reviewed positively by all the sites that reviewed them. However, work best at 100Hz and above.

Hey, JP, where's your av? Out for a Christmas makeover?
