Could Someone help me out

I decided to buy a new gfx card for my computer. but since i never done it before im now SUPER confused.

I think these to are good. For my budget which is about £150

feel free to correct me btw.

Asus 9800 XT thing

Gainward Card

they both got decent reviews in a magazine. The gainward one was highly recommended.

At the moment i have 632mb ram 1.7ghz celeron. Its got some integrated intel gfx at the moment wich sucks ***. I THINK the AGP slot is x4 but i dont know what it means. Some cards say x8 or x8 x4 x2 etc.

I plan to also go up to 1 gig of ram.

Basically im looking for to be able to play my games at higher resolutions at a decent speed. Most of them lag abit in higher res.

So if someone could explain, some things and how to go about putting one of these in my comp, it would be great thanks

I think you mean 9600

I'd say the 9800 XT looks a lot better, but read this and see for yourself

yeah i meant 9600XT. The 9800 is out of my budget. lol

anyway. The ones u linked to arent the same as the ones i linked to?

i think the 9600Xt is the un asus version?

but what about the gainward one?

im confused even more. I dont really understand the reviews edit: i read up to the frame rate grpahs b4 getting confused. Ill have a good read in a minute though.

i assume thats 1 vote for the asus 9600XT then?

ok. i must say im not that nothered about half life 2, so u can just ignore that that card has a coupon for it. ( dont kill me plz! )

does anyone know anything about the AGP slots though?
as in the x8 or x4 or x2 etc. Will a x8 work in x4 or what? im still confused about that.

well also sorry bout my language. Hope i didnt offend anyone.

you will not see a different between 8X and 4X .

and both the 9600xt and the fx5700ultra are both very nice cards . the only difference you will see between them is in benchmark . with the naked eye they will look the same . a video hawk might see the difference between them , but being that you are asking the question i highly doubt you will see a difference . so either one will be a good buy . i would go with the one that is the cheapest in price . i don't think you can go wrong with either .

Nope.. There's actually almost no improvement going from 4x to 8x (maybe like a 10% improvement). So you wont be missing much.!

Unfortunately, this is only half true. Yes, you wont see much diff in the benchs, but there is notable difference when playing DX9 games. The 5700 pales in comparison. Go for the Radeon!
