dual dsl or t1

I found a t1 line provider in my area waiting for a price but was wondering if dual dsl modems at 3mbps down and 640 kbps each
6mbps down and 1.28mbps up (both combined) with one of these http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews.asp?aid=248&page=1 or simmilar will it be better or just as good.

Does that basically link both of your DSL connections into one? Is it like a router? I wish I could talk my Dad into letting me get two Earthlink DSL connections at 1.5mbps easch

Most of what you are paying for with a T-1 is service, meaning if it goes down, they will have it back up in X amount of time. It is not as fast as even 1 DSL line. All depends on what you need for availabilty.

The hardware is QUITE interesting. Particularly considering the amount of wireless I can see....

I have a Nexland Pro Turbo 800 but I'm dissappointed in it. It will not double your download or upload speeds for any single file transfer. It will help if you can download (or upload) multiple files or from multiple sources at one time.

If you upload speed is important (like if you host something on the Internet) then the T1 would be better performance. In my area, a T1 costs about $1,100/month for the combined local loop and Internet access cost.
I have a fractional T1 at my house along with RoadRunner. when my upload is important or minimal packetloss is required, I use the fractional T1. Otherwise I use RR. Because of my disappointment in the Nextland ProTurbo 800 it still sits in a box on the shelf and I just switch Internet access methods via a batch file.

with the Nexland Pro Turbo 800 I was using is as an example for what I need, a dual wan router. basicaly what I want to use this connection for is a game server like cs at my house plus if I do have a lan pary at my house have the cs server for my guests and to the outside world. I know the t1 line will cost $1000+ and with the dsl $100-$150(each) depending on if I want static ip or dynamic.

For a game server you would definately want a T1 instead of the DSL (or even cable modem) because upload speeds are very important to handle many players. I'm not sure about CS specifics, but for a game like America's Army you could reasonably host a server with 6~8 players with the DSL connection you mentioned (but also depends on server's net speed related settings). With a quality T1 20 players works fine but I'm not sure what number actually starts giving latency problems.

the 1.544 they are talking about is probally a t1 that is the ONLY speed that they come in

i have Adelphia cable internet and the speeds are around 3.5mbps usually i dont know about the upload speeds though but i don't think its less than DSL not sure you could put two together though but the prices are very reasonable $40 with cable TV and $50 without

I would much rather have the dual DSL. While DSL won't be able to support as many clients for a game server, having 2 lines will lag a LOT less when you start downloading files and stuff like that. I ran a CS server for a while and it would seriously bog down a lot if I started downloading something and maxed out my dowload speed.
If you had 2 DSL connections, you could run the server on one line then have all other computers use the other line for stuff like Kazaa. That way, if somebody else in your house has Kazaa running, it won't destroy the speed of your game server.
