Thanks For All Your Help! Now I have ONE More Dilemma I Need Help On.

Hi Everyone,

As I've mentioned before, my mobo is an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, and my cpu is an AMD 3000+. I've gotten everything working on a satisfactory level, except one thing...

Whenever I bootup my computer, it says my cpu is running as a 1300!! Now, I asked my friend this and he said he had the same thing happen last year when he bought a new mobo, and that there was a switch on the mobo you had to flick in order to activate it to it's fullest. He mentioned his was switching it from a x1.00 to a x1.66?

Anyways, I am unable to locate this switch on my mobo, can anyone offer any assistance?

Thank you very much for your future help!

Ok, I did that, and now my cpu speed is at 2.17ghz. Is that normal??

I mean, is an AMD 3000+ supposed to only clock at 2.17ghz?

I tried setting the BIOS to 200, but my system won't boot up if I do that, and I have to revert it back to 166

Please help.

There are two versions of the Barton 3000+. One version runs at 166mHz fsb, and has a 13.0 multiplier. Native speed is 2167mHz. The other version runs at 200mHz fsb, and has a 10.5 multiplier. Native speed is 2100mHz.

You almost certainly have the 166mHz version. Getting that CPU to run at 200mHz (200 x 13.0 = 2600mHz) would be a very significant overclock... usually not achievable without exotic cooling and considerable over-volting of vCore.
