Half Life Launcher Encountered Error

for some reason when i start Counterstrike from Steam, it wil try to load CS but then an error comes up saying "half life launcher encountered a problem", anyone know whats going on? or how to fix this?

Well it's a pretty cut and dry issue, can't really tell what caused it with out more info.
However you could always try reinstalling CS or maybe even updating it, have you tried any mods with the game? Sometimes they can cause issues, especially installing multiple ones.
