Computer wont post

Hey folks,

Really new at puters. My problem is that my system wont post after I reseated my ram (kingston ddr400 pc3200 2 x 256).

Asus P4p800 mobo
P4 3.0ghz 800 fsb
Kingston HyperX 1GB DDR400 pc3200
Msi geforce4 ti 4800se
creative sound blaster audigy gamer

Solutions I've tried:
Check the ram on 2nd puter (good)
Check the video card on 2nd puter (good)
Reseated the new ram
Reseated the cpu
Reset the cmos

The puter power up, but nothin happens after that. No video no nothing.

Any help you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TechIMO! Have you tried each stick by itself in the Asus system? You got the correct type of ram for the Asus P4p800 mobo? Have you tried switching them to the opposite slots? Some mobos can't handle ram in the wrong order or larger than a certain amount.

Yes according to the mobo guide I have correct size ram and the board can handle far greater amounts. I have tried the ram in different configs and the problem persists.

how old is the video card . i don't remember if the first ti4200's were 3.3 or 1.5 volt . i know alot of newer motherboards with 8x agp slots won't take a 3.3 volt apg card . its a long shot but it is a thought .

sorry, I was surfing for a fix on the beep codes and a website suggested that might fix the problem. I have since tried to move the new memory I purchased into the alt config for dual channel ram and that didnt fix the matter. Try to find the voltage for the video card

Having same troubles. I have 2500XP, Corsiar dual channel 3200, Abit NF7. Ran terrific at 2080mhz w\416mhz FSB (mem timings 2-2-2-5) for like 6 months. I pulled one stick out to trouble shoot my sis's machine, when I reseated: no post! I had to pull that stick out to get it to post, then it wouldnt boot windows until I lowered my settings to stock. Then I tried adding the 2nd stick, no problems. I moved my settings back up: no post!! I can only get it to hit 400mhz with SPD detected settings. Ran Prime 95 for a few hours at these settings, no prob. Is there anyway I could have installed the ram incorrectly (im a newb too) and fragged my ram, ram socket, or chipset? I also have an ultra cheapo PSU, could that be the cause of this problem as well? There is nothing ovbviously wrong with any of my components (no burnt, exploded, bent or broken caps, connectors etc.) Any advice would be appreciated!!

Oh ya, cooling provided via SLK800U w/ Vantec Tornado, 4 80mm intakes, 2 80mm exhast (i like a quite rig)
