hp ze 4145 notebook battery problem

my battery doesn't seem to be charging at all.
the notebook is just about a year old itself, as is the battery that came with it.
it was working fine just before the incident occured.
I usually do not run on battery power as it is. Whenever I work on it, it is always plugged in, except every so often when the situation calls for it. So it is usually ay 100%.
As for the battery itself, the AC power cord is plugged in securely, and the battery is locked into place as well.
However, the amber light which shows the battery is charging is on, and every so often, goes off, then comes back on a few seconds later. Also, every once in a while, the amber light will turn green to sho full charged, but a few seconds later will turn back off, then a few seconds later return as a amber light.
The power management shows the battery at 0% and says it is charging, but does not change. Once in a while it will flux to say 100%... but then say 0% again.
I have let it sit overnight thinking that it should be enough time to gain some power back, but it remains at 0%.
Any help would be appreciated

Gaming HP 4125 Notebook

Same problem you describe....battery suddenly does not respond, computer shows no communication sometimes and other times says 100% but when I go to battery, the comuter shuts off immediately...there is no residual power in the battery.

You get some clues about this?

Hello,

Just trying to help out here is my advise to you.

Batteries can sometimes be over charged it's not a good idea to leave it plugged in constantly. A battery has sort of a memory cell and if you do not allow it to drain now and then it some what forgets, and usually leads to reading fully charged but only being 1/4 charged ect... Or not charging at all.

Sometimes it can be cured by letting the battery drain, recharging, letting it drain completely and recharging again but most of the time. It's needs a new one.

It is very important for the first few uses to let the battery drain completely and then recharge, if from the point you buy it, it stays plugged in constantly chances are the battery is going to get damaged.

This goes for Laptop's, Cell phones, and anything else that uses rechargable batteries.

Steve
