Kids Half height PCI cards

I've picked up a case (intended for home theater PC) that uses half height cards. I've got a couple of cards that I could use if only they had the shorter "posts" on them. Is it possible to buy generic half height posts and swap them for what is there now?

(Should I call these "posts" or "brackets" or ... ?)

try Directron.com
they have good selection, and what you can do is buy one of their half-height pci cards (modem) ... what it really is, is a normal-height card with an optional half-height steel piece. harvest the half-height piece, and sell the modem as-is on ebay.

Food thanks for the reply...

After much searching, and trying desperately to avoid buying yet more computer stuff, I have decided to mod the brackets ("posts") on a couple of cards that I already have. We'll see how it goes... I plan on doing surgery on a blank bracket first for practice.

BTW, I DID notice that some ATI AGP cards come with BOTH the standard and the low profile brackets. A good choice on the part of ATI as those people setting up home theater PC's may very well choose their products in part for this reason.

Low profile Nvidia cards have been around for a long time.

if you're modifying the steel pieces on your own, be sure to use some high-quality safety goggles and wear gloves when cutting! burrs from the metal can cut your hands (ever do surgery on a poorly-designed case?) and you've gotta protect your eyes!
I hope you find something that works in this case. when you do, close the thread with a pic of your results!
