Systems Explorer.exe nightmare!

Hi guys please help,

This all began way back when, with a problem my explorer.exe had. It robbed all the system resources and generally caused me a headache.

I asked you guys and some star gave me the answer to this puzzle. Answer

So I updated it.

Then a little while later the problems really began to mount.

First was the total shut down and BAD_POOL_CALLER problem.

BAD_POOL_CALLER Problem

I eventually found out it was the new explorer.exe's fault.

Then came the blank refusal to allow me onto windows update. 2 months later I found out, it is again down to the explorer.exe, but again I put up with it.

Now I can't download anything, everytime I try to change web site the stupid box by my legs complains about a run time error of some varying number and asks if I wish to debug. And which program am I asked to debug? Yep - the explorer.exe.
Windows crashing, file corruptions and now finally tonight I can't even open my e-mails without the a debug enquiry and a flat refusal have pushed me too far. I need help and shed loads of it.

What I want is a new version of explorer.exe that works or to mend the one I have. The only problem is that I am unlikely to be able to download it, but I can try if I could find a new version. Or if some nice person could print the code I could debug it myself if I knew where mine was wrong and put in the correct stuff. Not too happy about the second option but now desperate. Anyhow this has been long winded enough so

Windows XP
Agnitum Firewall
Norton 2003 Anti-virus
Explorer.exe version 6.0.2800.1221 - (allegedly)

Thanks for reading

Pat

Did you go to control panel and do a repair?
control panel/add remove programs. scroll to IE and hit the remove link, at that point you will be given 3 options, you should pick "repair" good luck

What you could do...

Windows is cranky sometimes:

1. Try and repair (as mentioned)
2. Reinstall Windows / IE
3. Download Knoppix and give it a shot. If you like what you see then maybe a full blown out Linux install is the way to go.

I moved to Linux full time when I had severe issues with Win2k (ie. installed SP4 and my machine BSOD'ed everytime I started, even in safe mode) I switched to Red Hat 7/8 at the time and everything was flawless.

Good luck!
