internet explorer

I am, using a cable modem connected to my PC with USB. when I try to go to a website with IE it gives me a DNS error, could not find server. BUT my internet connection is working because my radio webcast program works fine and I go to network settings and look ant my connection it shows a bytes received but none sent. what is the problem.

I need to ask , Which OS are you using? Which version of IE? Do you know the brand of your cable modem(please post it here)? Is it ALL the time for every page or only on specific sites(some times a site will be unavailable due to technical problems, Etc...)??
