Problem restoring network connection

Hi there,
I have a Win2000 Pro machine which I use as a file server and which is always running. I connect with my laptop (Win XP Pro) to the Win2000 machine over a WLAN. The problem is that after booting the laptop, it often can't restore the network connections (sometimes it can). I can also enter \\servername in the Run-window, but nothing happes. After some minutes, the restore often works, but not always. There are no relevant entries in the event viewer. The user names and passwords are the same on both machines, the Guest account is disabled on both machines. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
refi

\\servername\C$

or if you have a folder shared off as my music

\\servername\my music

Thanks, but this doesn't help either. It says: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Some minutes later, it works.

BTW, from the Win2000 machine, I can access the shares on the laptop without a problem.

Best regards,
refi

You may want to write a logon script that automatically maps to whatever directory on the file server that you are trying to access. Put it in the startup of the XP machine or simply have an icon you can click to run it.
