Vantec Aeroflow probloms

I replaced my Intel stock HSF with the Vantec Aeroflow, 46C Idle was my Idle temp with the stock HSF, then when I installed my Vantec Aeroflow what do you know, the thing is still 46C.

I have a P4 2A & 2.4, MSI 845E Max motherboard.

I have no idea what the problom is, every one claims they get 6-10C lower temps. I am using Artic Silver 5 compound.

I posted most of this on your size thread.

I put a aeroflow in my wifes P4 computer and it vibrated the desk so bad I put the stock HS back on. It only lowered the temps 2 or 3 deg cen anyway.

The one on my Barton 2500+ worker better though, only 4 deg cen rise Idle to full load @ 2600+. Much heaver desk keeps vibration down.
On both comp my idle temp did not change.

I ordered some zaleman speed controllers to see if the vib can be stopped by slowing the fan just a little. If the fans arn't out of balance that might work

I'v red tests that arsilver lowers 2 or 3 dgr, I only use Silicone.

The cap on the Intel had some kind of compund under it between it and the chip, probably a pad. I think the cap is the limiting factor.

What is the system/case temps? CPU temps are usually about 10 to 15 degrees c. warmer than case temps. Doesn't seem to matter what the HSF is when the CPU is within this range.

When replacing any HSF that had a thermal pad, and the user will be applying thermal compound, it is important to remove all traces of the old pad, so that the thermal paste can take effect.

I also posted in your thread telling you not to expect a much greater OC or a giant reduction in cpu temp---
The retail cooler is actually quite good---
It IS slightly quieter tho eh?

I used rubbing alcohol to clean the core before I applyed the AS5. Well I did notice that my full load temp is much better, it used to be 60C full load but I ran a prime 95 stress test and the CPU only climbed to 53C full load.

Send a message via ICQ to Omardeth Send a message via Yahoo to Omardeth
it also takes a few days to get the "best" results with AS products . give it a day or 3 and then check your temps

Yalso, it's phun to check your mobo's sensor accurancy with a multimeter, or anything that can grab a temp from your HS.

Just be careful sticking things around in there while she's on...don't wanna fry nufin.
