64-bit chips just got cheaper
I just got an e-mail from Monarch Computer's e-mail specials and they have the Athlon 64 3000+. It's a 214 shipped, so if you're interested into jumping the early bandwagon of 64 bit computing, and are on somewhat budget conscious, this looks like a good choice.
Edit: Price changed, so I edited it to reflect the new price

No I’m pretty sure you the only Microsoft products that you can actually buy at the moment are all 32bit. There x86-64 versions are still in beta as far as I know.

Yes, windows 2k3 has a 64bit edition. Also Windows XP 64bit edition is still in the beta process. XP 64 is downloadable through MSDN if you have a subscription.

| newegg has it for 215$ shipped free, no strings attached.
Sam
EDIT: Note this chip is a 2.0ghz frequency part with 512kb of L2 cache instead of the 3200+ which is 2.0ghz with 1mb L2. I notice that newegg has the L2 listed incorrectly and has the chip placed under the "1.8ghz" listing not 2.0ghz.

Are there any benchmarks comparing 64-bit programs running on Athlon 64 vs the 32-bit counterparts running on Athlon XP?
