halo demo crashing with sound

if i try to run the demo without -nosound it crashes after about a minute. i've got a NF7-S and i'm using the onboard sound. what could be causing the problem? i'm dling the newest drivers right now but it'll take awhile (12mb dl on 26.4k dialup).

well i couldn't get the driver to install. i went into each folder that the file i downloaded created and ran the .inf's which seemed to install the files, but after restarting it still crashed. i turned the music volume down to 0 which has helped some but the game still crashes after awhile.
