syquest sparq 1gig

any tips on installing a syquest sparQ 1 gig internal drive I just got one and am thinking about trying it out in my e-machine 700 celly to do some backup. running win 98SE.

what kind of tips ? I read that those were really unreliable.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I hope you have better luck than I did.

I got one when they first came out. I had nothing but problems. Wouldn't read, wouldn't eject, corrupted data, when ejecting you could hear the arm scrape across the disk (resulting in 4 bad disk's). I RMA'd 2 of the drive's and went through 4 of the disk's before I said the heck with it and literally chucked it out the door onto the side walk. It couldn't do anything right, but it did bounce pretty good and didn't break apart.

Have your sparq connected to PC (i had 2, and they still work- up to the point when I swih to W2K and XP). Insert driver disk, open control panel and select SCSI icon. CLick on have disk and point it to driver disk (a:\). Then reboot.
