200gb HD just clicks...

I tried to start my computer and the hard drive will just click (Western Digital 200gb 7200rpm) and the computer will stay at the screen "reading IDE connections". I put it in my other computer just to make sure the IDE cables or power supply wasn't messed up, and it does the same thing. I'm assuming this mean the hard drive is trashed right? Any suggestions?
Anybody want the the 200gb even though it doesn't work?

I'm assuming that it's relatively new. Contract the manufacturer and get an RMA number. You send your dead drive to them, they send you a new one.

Put the drive in a zip-lock bag, stick it in the freezer for a couple of hours...remove it and see if it will boot. If it does, it may give you a chance at any personal files (email & such). This is not a permanent fix..but works sometimes. RMA that sucker.

Be VERY sure you have a hard drive shipping container. A big box with plenty of chips and wrapped in bubble wrap is not acceptable. Email WD support, they will send you a HDD shipping container (or, they should..Maxtor does.)

What does the shipping matter, it's dead because they made a deffective drive

Because if it shows up damaged they may assume the drive is dead because the customer damaged it. Just a guess.
