Directx 9 fouled up
Well, i have no idea why, but my dx suddenly crashes all my games when they try to start, i guess it got corrupted somehow.
DXDIAG.exe gives me the following error:
"Error: problem getting input info, result code = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)"
I first tried to install the latest dx, didn't fixt the problem
tried updating my video drivers, this failed,
treid windows update, no luck there either,
I'm thinking it's going to come down to me using dxbuster to clean it out and reinstall it.
Does anyone perchance have any ideas to resolve the issue before i try to use dxbuster?
Much appreciated.

What OS are u running?
Know that DirectX 8.0+ works for the previous version of Win XP. Dx 9 design works for Win XP.

I wouldnt mess with DX9 untill you get the drivers for the vid card installed correctly.
Uninstall the vid card drivers in controlpanel>add/remove programs
Reboot without installing ,then install the new ones.

I went to add/remove and it said there was an error, I had to manually uninstall the drivers, after getting them back in, the problem still exists. Some odd things happened tho, after uninstalling them manually it was still in 32bit color, even after a restart, it also had the resizing options available too, but when selected it would change and shake irradicaly, then change back. Also, a language bar showed up, for which i had never seen before. I simply don't understand what is going on that could cause such problems.

I have the DX 9.0. I think its the first release and never encountered any problem. For DX 9.0b, never got it download. Try the DX 9.0a instead.

is it possible to downgrade like that though?
I was thinking of using dxbuster now, but i don't have the standard dx8 files on my windows cd, it came with 9, so is it possible to just uninstall dx, or will windows not boot without it?
